Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
