A senior officer who rushed to the help of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knifeman received the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.

Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he held a weapon to the throat of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist following a vehicle incident in the area in summer 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a electric weapon.

"Policeman stabbed," PC Wolstencroft could be heard saying over his communication device.

Bodyworn and vehicle camera footage shared by the agency showed Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood up, run up to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife outstretched.

He ran into the officer who lost balance and fell to the pavement, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the ground despite being repeatedly struck with the weapon.

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a clear shot, ending the struggle to an end.

Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "Can I get assistance on my throat now, I got knifed in the neck."

Sgt Ansell suffered multiple deep cuts to his throat and additional injuries to his limbs and body, whereas Sgt Foster received cut injuries.

Officials stated Sgt Foster utilized his palms to stem his colleague's hemorrhaging before paramedics reached the scene.

The new honor follows subsequent to the trio of policemen won internal Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the area union branch in April 2024.

They additionally received a Regional Courage Honor in July 2024.

"The responses of all three officers ultimately rescued one another and resulted in no civilians experienced any wounds."

Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, as stated by the department.
